Ways to vote
In-person early voting
New Jersey holds an in-person early voting period before general elections at designated county locations. The number of days, the sites, and the daily hours are set by Somerset County and published before each election. Confirm the current schedule with the county before making plans.
Vote-by-mail ballots
Any registered New Jersey voter may request a vote-by-mail ballot. Applications, return deadlines, drop box locations, and postmark rules are set by state law and administered by the county. Voters who requested a mail ballot on an ongoing basis do not need to reapply each year.
Registration
You must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old on Election Day, and a resident of your county for at least 30 days. Registration can be completed online, by mail, or in person. Moving within New Jersey requires updating your registration.
